[The bright sun, blue sky, even the odd cloud dotted here and there. Whoever is holding the journal is doing a pretty good job of capturing the good weather right now.]

After all the rain and wind last week it's this sort of sunshine that really makes Fuuko think of summer.

[The journal soon pulls back to show that the sky is being recorded through a massive hole in the roof of one of house 26's upstairs bedrooms.]

However Fuuko really does not want to enjoy summer whilst still being inside like this! Most of the water has dried away or has been mopped up but this thing is still here! Even if Fuuko was low on money and couldn't afford AC this would be a very extreme solution. And even then money isn't a problem so why is this hole still here?!

[Normally these things see to themselves, but nope. Still a hole. The bedroom is still a complete wreck too, with debris and bits of glass and the door frame scattered about all over.]

If anyone knows anything about fixing things like this then Fuuko would appreciate a little of your time. Fuuko will even prepare something to give to your for your trouble, something very delicious!

[Oh, and quickly adding in at the end--]

Also, Fuuko hopes everyone who went into space returned home safely! If you all want something delicious too then please come to house 26, there's going to be more than enough for anyone who wants some. Fuuko will make sure of that!

[The 'something very delicious' Fuuko was referring to is starfish shaped bread. Giant loaves of it. There's only so much of the stuff she can make before she needs more ingredients though so she's out around the village to pick up some more.

... But she couldn't just leave all the bread she had recently baked alone in the house. Even if Kotomi and Nagisa are there who knows what could come through that hole in the roof! As such, Fuuko is carrying a bag of freshly baked starfish bread around with her. Don't you just love the smell of bread that's just come out of the oven? It's still a little warm too!]

[Do not agree to this, Fuuko. It will only end in shouting. Lots and lots of shouting.]

You can?! Fuuko wasn't expecting you to be able to handle something like this at all! You should bring this Walter-san too and get started right away, for the sake of the roof!

[Sounds like she better agree right now so the shouting match can get underway.]

Okay! I'll go find him and we'll be right there!

[Poor Walter. This is definitely what he wanted to do with his afternoon, right?]

[If he didn't then TOO BAD he can drop what he's doing and fix this roof. This is totally a priority.]

Great! Since there are two of you coming Fuuko will make sure what Fuuko has planned is ready to be seen and eaten by the time you get here.

Sometime later, Grune will be turning up at the Clanpad with a longsuffering blond teenager in tow. Knock knock!]

[Long-suffering blond teenager looks like he's still wondering why he agreed to this. But he will remain silent for now, frowning the entire time they wait for the door to be answered. After all, he had muttered and griped at Grune the entire way over.]

[Okay! Opening the door and-- What is with this incredibly awkward and negative atmosphere out here.

It's almost bizarre looking from Grune's happy, smiling face and then turning to Walter's. Expression. Cough.

Fuuko stands there for a full minute, just looking between the two of them and waiting to see if anyone else is going to say anything, after which she steps aside and motions for them to come in.]

[Grune, of course, is completely oblivious to the atmosphere. In fact, right before she goes in, she decides it's the perfect time to do the introductions!]

Hello, Fuuko! This is Walter. And Walter, this is Fuuko.

[And now they will be the best of friends!]

Hello. [Isn't that the most unenthusiastic greeting ever? It's amazing that Walter doesn't have his arms crossed tightly over his chest and isn't glaring to accompany that flat tone.] There was something about needing repairs done?

It's nice to meet you Walter-san. And it's always nice seeing you Grune-san. [A slight bow of her head to go with the greeting.] That's right, there's huge hole in Fuuko's roof and Fuuko has no idea how to fix it! Normally it would fix itself but Fuuko thinks there might be something wrong.

[She motions upstairs to the bedroom where the hole is, but instead of going up there now she heads straight on through to the kitchen.]

As Fuuko is very thankful for your help today Fuuko will give you one of these! [Behold, starfish bread!] They're probably very delicious, Fuuko spent a lot of time on them.

[Grune bends down to take a look, just smiling away. Really, she's happy enough for both her and Walter.]

My, I'm sure they must be! You did a good job, Fuuko!

[Walter is a little more wary of the starfish bread than Grune, and it's because of a particular word Fuuko had decided to use.]

"Probably"?

Fuuko has yet to try them, but since Fuuko followed the recipe exactly and made them in the shape of the starfish Fuuko is positive they probably taste very good.

[They don't taste bad. They're just... Weird. Star-shaped bread and all.]

You can take one now if you like, or have one later when you've looked at the roof. Fuuko isn't aware of how you roof fixing people like to do your work.

Oh, thank you!

[Grune takes one and has a little bite.] ...Mmm, it's delicious!

[But should you to trust the words of a woman with no tastebuds?]

[Despite the fact that Grune is eating one of the offered starfish-shaped breads, Walter declines with a faint wave.] I want to look at this hole first. It might take awhile, depending on how big the hole is.

[Because he really didn't trust Grune to give him a proper estimation of how big the hole was.]

Okay, let's go take a look now then.

[Leaving the tray of bread back in the kitchen, Fuuko heads up stairs and makes sure she's being followed as she enters the room where the hole is.

~~Sneakily copy and pasted from another thread-~~ The hole seems to be mostly confined to the corner of the room with the surrounding walls still intact for the most part, save for some cracks and chipped brickwork. The hole itself is large enough to bathe the entire room in sun light, with support beams and roof tiles sloping down slightly to where the hole is.]

[Grune follows Fuuko up the stairs, nibbling on her bread. When they reach her room, she spends some time looking about in curiosity before finally thinking to look up.]

My, it certainly is large.

[Walter is professional enough to head right over to the corner that Fuuko directs him to, not minding whatever else is in the room as he starts touching the support beams and damaged bricks that had managed to leave dust on the floor. The support beam doesn't shift sideways as he tests, but a firm push upwards confirms for him that it had sank a bit from its original position.]

...At least it's only in a corner of the room. [He says aloud, trying to decide what he would have to do.] I'll have to push this beam back up and reinforce it to stay in place. This can be patched up by tomorrow. [But more significant aesthetic construction? Not going to happen.]

By tomorrow?! That's wonderful, you both really must be experts when it comes to roof repair! [Yes, both. Good job Grune! And Walter.] If you need any help or any tools then Fuuko will be happy to lend a hand. We have a hammer downstairs, should Fuuko go get it?

Hmm.... I think that would be a good idea. [Says the woman who knows absolutely nothing about roof repair.]

[Walter waves off Fuuko's offer for the hammer, continuing to look at the hole as he talks. It really wouldn't be too difficult to patch up the hole, but he would need some metal supports and flat wooden boards.]

I need other materials before I can get started, so I'm going to go to the store from here. Just make sure this area is clear of your things. ...Unless you want more of your stuff covered in dirt.

Of course not, if Fuuko had the choice then nothing would be covered with dust and dirt like this!

[Sadly she didn't have the choice, the roof did, and the roof decided it wanted to collapse and fill the room with debris. Rude roof.]

Fuuko will clean up. Grune-san can help too!

[Unlike Walter, Grune doesn't mind getting drafted in the slightest.]

All right! I'll do my best!

[Walter sighs at Grune's enthusiasm, but eventually nods at Fuuko.]

All right. I'll be back later with tools and materials. Have this place cleaned up by then.

[He gives the hole in the roof another long look before heading towards the door.]

Right! You can count on Fuuko and Grune-san!

[They'll probably need to pull the bed out to properly clean, plus there's all these bricks and splintered supports lying around. Best get to work.
