[Things sure are a lot mistier around here than she remembers... There are also a lot more bats and rats around, these certainly weren't here before. Then again, given the time of year, Fuuko is just happy that the moon isn't crashing into anything.

Having been returned from her kidnapping Fuuko first heads to the clinic to check on things there. At first she's surprised when she looks around and can't find herself, her body. The surprise gives way to happiness soon enough though, leading to Fuuko running as fast as her legs can carry her back home.

She's practically runs into the front door in her excitement and quickly heads to Nagisa's room. This is it, she can say hello to Nagisa not as the girl she met in Luceti, but as the best friend she had helping her through all the rough times back home. The only problem is Nagisa isn't here, or anywhere. Her room is completely bare save for a few gifts left behind on the bed, including letters addressed to her and Kotomi.

"It's been a pleasure getting to know you here in Luceti, Fuu-chan. I'm really, really happy that we ended up rooming together, because you ended up becoming one of my best friends here, as well as anywhere else! I'm sad that I won't be able to spend more time with you, but I'm sure we'll be able to see each other again in Hikarizaka. We do go to the same school, after all! Even if I may not remember you there, though, I'm positive that we'll become friends again."

... No, that won't happen. Back home was different. It was here in the village that Fuuko had the chance to do everything with Nagisa. That just isn't possible back home, no matter how much she might want it to be.

Fuuko ends up holding the letter tightly in her hands while she sits on Nagisa's bed, amongst all the different dangos and presents she left behind. She's not crying, it's hard not to, but she refuses to cry. Right now she only wants to be alone.]

[Later, when Fuuko feels as though she's up to it, she finds her journal and opens it up to speak.]

Nagisa Furukawa has gone back to Hikarizaka. [...] She left lots of wonderful things for her friends, so please come and collect them. Fuuko thinks that Nagisa-san would be very happy if all of the dangos she left went to good homes.

[And that's it. She leaves the journal open in case anyone wants to ask about Nagisa. Anyone that might decide to wait a moment before replying may be able to hear Fuuko whispering Nagisa's name to herself and sighing.]

But.. Fuuko-chan's sad, aren't you?

[ Even Kotomi, with oblivious as she always is, can notice that much. Heck, she can tell because she herself isn't exactly happy about this - happy that Nagisa went home, but.. Kotomi herself actually doesn't think staying here is such a bad thing by now. But if Fuuko says it's a good thing, then Nagisa probably didn't want to stay, huh..? ]

[Very. Incredibly sad. The feelings she's experiencing are much worse than being forgotten, worse than fading away. Fuuko really loves it here in the village, it gave her a chance to meet new people and make friends. Being here allowed her to do what she told her sister she was going to do on the day of the entrance ceremony. She can't say she hates it here, even with the experiments. There's more of a life for her here then there is back home...

And yet, Nagisa. Why now, of all times she disappears now.]

... Yes, Fuuko is sad. If Fuuko wasn't sad right now then Fuuko and Nagisa-san could not have been very good friends.

[ Yeah. That's the problem, isn't it? It always hurts because you're losing someone important to you. Else it wouldn't hurt, else you might not even notice, but.. when it's someone you've known that well or that long, it's.. weird. It's sad.. ]

Sorry, Fuuko-chan. [ But honestly, she isn't sure what to say either, and she doesn't seem as blank as usual - there's something decidedly sad about all of it. ] I.. am sad too.

[If they're both going to be sad then they might as well be sad together. Fuuko carefully stands up from the bed, careful not to knock any of the presents onto the floor, and walks over to Kotomi. She gently wraps her arms around Kotomi and stands there, looking for something more to say. When nothing positive comes to mind, Fuuko opts to say nothing at all and instead focuses on the hug.]

[ Kotomi's only properly started hugging again a while before she came to this place, and even then in this place she hasn't done it too often.. but she can try, at least, and this does seem like the occasion for it. Both of them could use it at the moment.

So the bigger girl slowly wraps her arms around Fuuko in return too. The hold is a little loose, but it's definitely there, and she's more than content with the silence lingering too. After all, she's never been good at talking. But at least this time when someone disappeared, there's at least someone still right there and that helps a lot - it's much better than being alone at a time like this. ]

[Fuuko is normally the one being hugged rather than the one to initiate these sorts of things, but in a case like this it feels good to just hug it out and know someone else is there with her.

After a moment or so, Fuuko grips a little harder to tighten the hug and pull the other girl in closer. When she decides to speak up and break the silence her speech comes out muffled, making sure that her head is ducked down a little so that she's almost talking into Kotomi's clothing.]

When do you think Nagisa-san will come back?

[Not 'if', when. It's selfish to want her back here, and she knows it, but for just a moment she'll allow herself to be like this.]

...

[ At first she doesn't answer. Not because of her usual delay in answering, but since she doesn't know what to say. It's better to tell the truth, right? But at the same time, Kotomi herself doesn't particularly want to face that truth either. Just like last time, when she had been waiting for so long, for years and years.. ]

I don't know. [ It's better to keep some hope alive. Even if it's selfish hope, Kotomi does realise that much too. But at least it feels good to not be completely alone in it now.. ] We'll just have to wait..

Fuuko will wait then. Then when Nagisa-san comes back, Fuuko can tell her all about what Fuuko has been doing while Fuuko has been waiting. [...] And Kotomi-chan can too.

[At least that's something to look forward to now. The day Nagisa gets pulled back to a world full of experiments and drafts, where she'll be without her family and everyone else from back home... Mm, maybe looking forward to it isn't a good idea. Perhaps just waiting and in time accepting that she's gone would be better. That's what happens here after all, people go home, life goes on. That seems the mature thing to do.]

Fuuko hopes that wherever Nagisa-san ends up that she has a very wonderful life.

[ It's now that she finally lets go, slowly but surely, and she takes a step back to properly be able to look at the other girl. For once there's something just sliiightly less air-head-y about her, maybe it's in the way she smiles despite how she knows it's painful as well to lose a friend like this. It really is. ]

Nagisa-chan is a really, really kind person. There's no doubt a kind person like that will get a great kind of happy life..

... Mm. Fuuko thinks that Kotomi-chan is right, as she always is. Nagisa-san will have the greatest, happiest life that anyone ever asked for.

[She deserves it.]

Someone that kind... Doesn't deserve to have a sad life!

.. Ah. I'm glad Fuuko-chan understands.. [ she smiles in return at the girl, even if it only appears slowly and still slightly painfully. ]

That's why.. Fuuko-chan and I will have to try our best here too, right? Maybe Fuuko-chan should get to know Ikki-kun, then I'm sure Fuuko-chan could play with Hyoga-kun as well..

Yes! We can both try our complete best, any less just wouldn't be fair to Nagisa-san. [-Or the starfish, it wouldn't be fair to them either.]

Fuuko will try very hard to get to know Ikki-kun and Hyoga-kun. [...] Even though Fuuko has never met those people, Fuuko is sure that Fuuko already knows about them.

[Maybe that was a different Ikki though. Names.]

Ikki-kun is really kind, so I'm sure he and Fuuko-chan will get along. [ kotomi pls, you couldn't spot an antisocial person even if they were right in front of you. ] And Hyoga-kun is his pet.. he's really, really cute. Don't you like pets, Fuuko-chan?

So Hyoga-kun is a pet, Fuuko was not expecting that. [Though maybe she was just used to having Dango the dog around.]

Fuuko is very fond of pets, if Fuuko wasn't then Fuuko would not be fit to have a pet starfish. If Kotomi-chan really thinks we'll get along then Fuuko is sure that that's how things will play out. [She trusts you Kotomi, Ikki better not be weird.]
